Palace: Marcos’ SALN includes updated, appraised value for transparency
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. secured the services of Cuervo Appraisers Inc. to assess the appraised value of his 2024 net worth to ensure transparency, Malacañang said on Thursday.
In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said it would be better if the public would be aware of the updated value of Marcos’ real properties and other assets.
“’Di ba mas maganda kung makikita ninyo kung ano iyong value, iyong updated value ng mga properties – mas maganda, mas maliwanag, mas transparent,” Castro said.
(It would be better if you could see the updated value of the properties, it would be clearer and more transparent.)
“Para mas maganda ring makita ng taumbayan kung magkano na iyong value ng mga properties na dating na-acquire before dahil darating ang panahon na sasabihin nila na ito na ang value niyan. So, dapat i-declare din. So, wala namang mali doon, mas maganda nga po,” she added.
(It would be better for the people to know the value of the properties that were acquired before. It should be declared as well. There’s nothing wrong with that, in fact, it’s better.”
In his 2024 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth, the President declared a net worth of more than P389 million.
Based on the SALN obtained by GMA Integrated News Research, Marcos also submitted an appraisal by Cuervo Appraisers Inc., a private firm, which placed the updated value of his net worth at P1.375 billion.
The President’s declaration indicated that the P389.357 million was based on the rules of the Civil Service Commission on the filing of SALNs, while the P1.375 billion was based on the net worth as appraised by Cuervo Appraisers Inc.
In his declaration based on the CSC rules, his assets included P142.026 million worth of 21 pieces of real estate property, including agricultural and residential land.
The President did not declare any liabilities in his 2024 SALN and his previous SALNs filed from June 2022 onwards. His previous SALNs also included the appraised value of his properties. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
