Sara Duterte's net worth rose by 1,120% in 17 years, SALNs show
The net worth of Vice President Sara Duterte rose by more than 1,000% – from more than P7.2 million in 2007 to P88.5 million in her 2024 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth.
GMA Integrated News Research secured copies of Duterte’s SALNs during this 17-year period and found that the Vice President’s declared net worth increased by 1,120.78% in her years as a politician.
In Maki Pulido’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, the Vice President declared a net worth of P88,512,370.22 in her last SALN executed in December 2024.
Last year, she reported her real estate properties to be worth P66,808,891 and her personal properties to be at P31,653,479.22. Duterte also reported her liabilities to be at P9.95 million due to loans with various creditors and a bank loan.
When Duterte became Davao City vice mayor in 2007, her declared net worth was then at P7,250,497.
She reported her real estate properties to be at P3,774,697, which included four lots and well as a lot and a building in Davao City, and a condominium unit in Quezon City.
Her personal properties were then valued at P5,475,800, which included a car, motorcycles, household appliances, jewelry, as well as P2 million in cash. Duterte’s liabilities in 2007 were at P2 million.
Upon her election as Davao City mayor in 2010, Duterte declared her net worth to be at P16,242,886.65, with her real estate properties worth P10,802,668.65, personal properties worth P10,748,218, and liabilities at P5,308,000.
The elder daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte did not run for office in 2013. She was elected as Davao City mayor anew in 2016.
GMA Integrated News Research was unable to secure copies of Duterte’s SALNs from 2016 to 2021.
When she became Vice President in 2022, Duterte declared her net worth to be at P71,058,841.
Her real estate properties, as well as those under the names of her husband, lawyer Manases Carpio and their children were worth P50,958,891. The Vice President’s personal properties were then worth P23,849,950, while her liabilities stood at P3.75 million.
