7 unregistered luxury vehicles end up impounded

Seven luxury vehicles, including a Ferrari, ended up getting impounded after authorities found out that these are not registered with the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

According to Jun Veneracion’s report in “24 Oras” on Thursday, personnel of the LTO and the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) visited a gas station along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) on Monday night upon receiving information that several luxury cars were parked there.

The vehicles included a sports car with an improvised plate attached to it.

The PNP-HPG said some of the owners of the luxury vehicles are businessmen.

“Ang kanilang profile mga businessmen at mga private individuals, kaya tinitingnan ng PNP-HPG kung ito ba ay dumaan sa tamang proseso,” said PNP HPG spokesperson Police Lt. Nadame Malang.

(The owners are mostly businessmen and private individuals, so the PNP-HPG is checking if these vehicles went through the right process.)

Malang added that the owners will face charges for reckless driving as they are operating unregistered vehicles.

The PNP-HPG said the owners need to register their luxury vehicles before they can retrieve them.

The owner of a sports car impounded by authorities took to social media to explain that he already went to the LTO and said he only forgot to register his car and remove the improvised plate.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances behind the luxury vehicles. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/JMA, GMA Integrated News
