Alice Guo files motion to stay at Pasig City jail instead of CIW

Former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo has filed a motion to remain at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory instead of being transferred to an all-women's correctional facility following her conviction over qualified human trafficking charges.

The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) said Guo, through her counsel, filed the motion with the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 167. A court hearing on her plea has been scheduled on Wednesday, November 26.

"This means na maantala muna ang paglipat sa kanya sa Correctional Institution for Women sa Mandaluyong," PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio told reporters in a Viber message.

(This means that her transfer to the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong will be on hold in the meantime.)

Last Thursday, the Pasig court found Guo guilty of qualified human trafficking and sentenced her to life imprisonment.

Guo was ordered to be immediately transferred to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, while her co-accused will be detained at the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

Her co-accused Rachelle Malonzo Carreon, Jaimielyn Cruz, and Walter Wong Rong, Wang Weili, Wuli Dong, Nong Ding Chang, Lang Xu Po were likewise sentenced to life imprisonment. They were also ordered to pay a fine of P2 million each per case on top of monetary reparations to the victim-complainants.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of the P6-billion Baofu compound in the favor of the government as well as the permanent revocation of the registration of Baofu Land Development Inc., Hongsheng Gaming Technology Inc., and Zun Yuan Technology Inc.

Meanwhile, accused Thelma Barrogo Laranan, Rowena Gonzales Evangelista, Rit Sapnu Yturralde, Merlie Joy Manalo Castro, and Maybeline Requiro Millo were acquitted over the prosecution's failure to prove their guilt beyond reasonable doubt. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
