Discayas attend preliminary investigation on BIR tax complaints

Contractors Curlee and Sara Discaya attended Friday the preliminary investigation on the multiple tax complaints filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) against them.

The Discaya couple arrived at the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila City for the preliminary investigation and to submit their counter-affidavits in relation to the cases filed by BIR for alleged violation of the Tax Code.

"The presence of spouses Discaya at the DOJ earlier was for the preliminary investigation in cases filed by BIR for violation of Section 236, 254, and 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997," DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez told reporters.

Martinez said the contractors may submit their reply affidavit until December 5 and rejoinder affidavit until December 19, 2025 before the case will be submitted for resolution.

In October, the BIR filed multiple tax complaints against the Discaya couple and a corporate officer over P7.1 billion in tax liabilities from 2018 to 2021. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
