PNP Assures Lawful Execution of Arrest Warrants for Zaldy Co and 17 Others

The Philippine National Police is coordinating with the necessary agencies regarding the warrants of arrest issued against former congressman Zaldy Co and 17 others.

In a statement, PNP Acting Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Nartatez Jr., on Friday assured the lawful implementation of the warrants and ensured due process will be followed.

The PNP is coordinating closely with the Sandiganbayan and other concerned agencies to ensure the lawful and orderly implementation of these warrants. We assure the public that due process will be strictly observed, and the individuals involved will be accorded all rights guaranteed under the law.

They also said that the rights of all 18 accused were guaranteed under the law.

“This development reflects the continuing effort of government institutions to ensure transparency and accountability in public service. The PNP remains committed to supporting these processes professionally, fairly, and without prejudice,” the statement read.

Co and 17 other accused are the subjects of several warrants of arrest issued by the Sandiganbayan on Friday in relation to the anomalous flood control projects in the country.

Hold departure orders have been issued for the accused, but the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) clarified that no court order has yet been issued to cancel Co’s passport.

Based on the latest reports, Co was last spotted in Japan. –NB, GMA Integrated News
