DOH denies endorsing home-based cancer treatments, warns vs. fake accounts

The Department of Health (DOH) has issued a warning against fake online accounts that attempt to mislead the public that the agency is endorsing home-based cancer treatment.

In a social media advisory late Friday night, the DOH called out websites and social media accounts that pretend to be the agency itself.

The Health Department clarified that it does not endorse any such treatments for cancers.

"Binigyang-diin ng DOH na wala itong programang nagpapatupad ng 'home-based treatment' para sa cancer. Ang paggamot sa cancer ay dapat lamang gawin ng mga kwalipikadong health professionals sa lisensyadong pasilidad," the DOH said.

(The DOH emphasizes that it does not have any program for the implementation of 'home-based treatment' of cancer. The treatment of cancer should only be performed by qualified health professionals in licensed facilities.)

Cancer patients may be provided healthcare in any of the 34 Cancer Assistance Fund sites around the country, the DOH said.

The DOH called on Filipinos to be vigilant and to refrain from distributing unverified statements that may cause panic or fear.

The public was also urged to get information from DOH channels and other legitimate sources or platforms. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
