44 party-list solons reaffirm support for Speaker Dy
Saying there is a need for stable leadership in the House of Representatives, at least 44 lawmakers belonging to the Party-list Coalition Foundation Inc. (PCFI) in the lower chamber have expressed their support for Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III.
The PCFI issued the statement amid rumors that Dy will be replaced by House deputy speaker Ronaldo Puno as Speaker.
Puno is a stalwart of the National Unity Party, the second largest political party in the House with at least 43 members.
“We, the Members of the Party-List Coalition Foundation, Inc. (PCFI) of the 20th Congress express our continuous and unwavering support to Speaker Faustino ‘Bojie’ G. Dy Ill as the leader of the House of Representatives,” they said.
“As the collective voice of the party-list representatives advocating for the marginalized and underrepresented sectors of our nation, the PCFI values leadership that promotes inclusivity, stability, and genuine collaboration,” the PCFI added.
They said the “need for steady, unifying leadership in the House of Representatives has never been more critical” as the country faces divisiveness.
“We recognize Speaker Bojie Dy’s consistent efforts to promote dialogue, reduce tensions, and foster a collaborative atmosphere among members of the House – even during moments of political strain,” the PCFI said.
The party-list lawmakers from the House majority bloc added that their support for Dy reflects their confidence in the Speaker’s ability to guide the House with fairness and transparency.
“We believe that under his leadership, the legislative agenda will remain focused on reforms that uplift communities, protect democratic processes, and advance the welfare of every Filipino family,” they added.

Earlier, Malacañang maintained a hands-off stance on talk of another changing of the guard in the House and said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has no involvement in choosing who leads the lower chamber.
In September, Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez resigned as Speaker after he was tagged by witnesses in the flood control controversy.
Romualdez, cousin of Marcos, has consistently denied involvement in the controversy and the kickback scheme and maintained that he has a clean conscience, even after the Independent Commission for Infrastructure recommended the filing of plunder, graft, and bribery charges against him and ex-Ako Bicol Party-list Rep.
