Organizers of next year’s Traslacion on Tuesday conducted a walk-through of the route of the procession of the image of the Jesus Nazareno in preparation for the procession on January 9, 2026, the Quiapo Church said.
In an update on its Facebook page, the Quiapo Church said personnel from the government and church, as well as volunteers joined the inspection.
“Kasama ang ilang pamunuan mula sa National at Local Government, mga pribadong ahensya, Fiesta Council, Procession Committee, Hijos del Nazareno gayun din ang ilang mga medical volunteer,” the Quiapo Church said.
(Several leaders from the National and Local Government, private agencies, Fiesta Council, Procession Committee, Hijos del Nazareno as well as several medical volunteers joined the walkthrough.)
“Layunin nito na mapanatiling maayos at ligtas ang bawat deboto sa rutang daraanan at sa buong pagdiriwang ng Nazareno 2026,” it added.
(This is aimed at keeping every devotee safe and sound along the route and throughout the Nazareno 2026 celebration.)
The 2026 celebration of the Jesus Nazareno will be from December 31, 2025 to January 9, 2026.
The religious celebration will culminate with the Traslacion, or the procession of the Jesus Nazareno image from Quirino Grandstand back to the Quiapo Church.
This annual event commemorates the arrival of the image of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno (Our Lord Jesus the Nazarene) from Acapulco, Mexico to the Philippines in the 1600s and its transfer from Bagumbayan (old Intramuros) to Quiapo Church or St. John Baptist Parish in 1767. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
