Another flood control mess accused now in custody —CIDG
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on Wednesday confirmed that another Department of Public Works and Highways official accused in the flood control mess is now under custody.
Montrexis Tamayo, DPWH Planning and Design Division OIC-chief, was brought to the Sandiganbayan.
“Yes po,” CIDG acting director Police Major General Robert Morico II told reporters when asked if the accused was indeed in their custody.
“For the return of the Warrant of Arrest and commitment sa designated jail facility,” the CIDG chief added.

Tamayo was one of those charged with graft and malversation over the P289-million substandard flood control project in Oriental Mindoro
On November 24, eight of the 16 accused in the case appeared before the Sandiganbayan. Seven of them were ordered detained at the Quezon City Jail while DPWH accountant Juliet Calvo was allowed to post bail as she is only facing a graft charge.
Other accused who are yet to surrender or be arrested are:
- Resigned Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, who is also former House appropriations panel chairperson
- Timojen Sacar, DPWH materials engineer
- Aderman Alcazar, president and board chair, Sunwest Construction
- Cesar Buenaventura, treasurer and board member, Sunwest Construction
- Consuelo Aldon, board member, Sunwest Construction
- Engr. Noel Yap Cao, board member, Sunwest Construction
- Anthony Ngo, board member, Sunwest Construction
