Marcos leads inauguration of San Lazaro housing; lauds Manila LGU
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday led the inauguration of the San Lazaro Residences in Sta. Cruz Manila.
In his message, Marcos lauded the initiative of the Manila local government in providing housing to city residents, especially for underprivileged citizens.
''Ginawa nila 'yung Manila Urban Housing Ordinance na ginawang opisyal ang pabahay para sa mahihirap na Manila resident at empleyado ng gobyerno na Salary Grade 18 at pababa,'' Marcos said.
(They made the Manila Urban Housing Ordinance official for poor Manila residents and employees of the government with Salary 18 and below.)
''Pagka nakita ng ibang LGU ito, gagayahin ito, asahan mo dahil napakagandang modelo itong ginawa ninyo,'' he added.
(If other LGUs see this, they will replicate this since this is a good model.)
Marcos, in jest, said Manila Mayor Isko Moreno should be in charge of housing projects since under his leadership, the city government was able to build more than 200 housing units in just three months.
''Yung isang housing, ginawa ng three months... ilang unit 'yun?
(One housing project was created in just three months. How many units? It's more than 200 units. That's only a dream for us in the NHA and DHSUD. You need to educate us on how it can be done, you'll be in charge of that.)
The San Lazaro Residences project encompasses a lot area of 4,329.65 square meters and features a 20-storey structure with a total of 382 residential units and 169 parking slots located at Quiricada and Alvarez Streets in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The Manila Public Health Laboratory occupies the ground to fourth floors on the Quiricada Street side, while the Lanuza Health Center is located on the ground to second levels on the Alvarez Street side.
The residential portion spans the fifth to twentieth floors, which includes a roof deck.
This reflects the City of Manila's innovative approach to utilizing space, which aims to effectively serve the residents while providing shelter to its residents.
Under Manila Urban Housing Ordinance, the beneficiary selection is through pre-qualification process and raffle.
For appeals, the Beneficiary Selection, Awards and Arbitration Committee is in charge to perform review and assessment of beneficiary selection parameters. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
