Marcos office gives P15M for Baseco Hospital

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Thursday emphasized the need to strengthen the collaboration between local and national governments with the aim to improve the country’s healthcare system.

During his visit to the Baseco community and the rehabilitated President Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital, Marcos announced an additional P15 million funding for the hospital from the Office of the President.

''Dahil ang katotohanan na-impress kami masyado. Kaya sabi ko tulungan naman natin. Kaya mula sa Tanggapan ng Pangulo, dadagdagan po natin ‘yung suporta ng 15 milyong piso para sa Baseco Hospital,'' Marcos said.

(We are impressed by this. So I said, let's help them. From the Office of the President, we will provide additional support worth P15 million for the Baseco Hospital.)

Having served as Ilocos Norte governor for nine years, Marcos said he understood the situation of local government units and the need for closer coordination and cooperation with the national government to efficiently deliver public services.

The Manila city government opened the President Corazon C. Aquino General Hospital, also known as Baseco Hospital, last September 5 to serve the residents of Baseco Compound.

The facility serves an average of 200 to 220 patients each day. As of November 24, the hospital has served around 7,300 patients. —RF, GMA Integrated News
