CAAP to coordinate with Malaysia, Singapore on Zaldy Co air assets

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Friday said that it will be working with Malaysia and Singapore on the air assets linked to former Ako-Bicol partylist representative Zaldy Co.

In a statement on Friday, CAAP said it has written the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) regarding Co’s two AgustaWestland helicopters in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia and a Gulfstream aircraft in Singapore.

“The letters informed the Civil Aviation Authorities that the aircraft[s] are currently covered by a freeze order issued by the Court of Appeals upon the verified ex parte petition of the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC). The order directs that no transaction, transfer, movement, conversion, concealment, or any form of disposition involving the subject aircraft shall be undertaken while the freeze order remains in effect,” the statement read.

The AMLC earlier issued freeze orders over P3.9 billion worth of assets of government officials linked to the flood control mess.

The most recent freeze order issued covered 230 bank accounts, 15 insurance policies, two helicopters, and one airplane.

As of Wednesday, the AMLC had frozen a total of 3,566 bank accounts, 198 insurance policies, 247 motor vehicles, 178 real properties, and 16-e wallet accounts.

Co is among the 18 suspects with active warrants of arrest currently being implemented in relation to the flood control controversy. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
