At 8 a.m., more or less 250 protesters were at Liwasang Bonifacio, according to the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, based on their drone shots and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
The protesters held a mini-program with a truck serving as a stage, according to a report by GMA Integrated News' Dano Tingcungco.
PISTON president Mody Floranda called out the police for preventing rallyists from setting up a stage at Km 0 (Rizal Monument) at Luneta.
The Manila Police District however said no rally permit was given to the group who were at Luneta. The MPD later allowed them to hold a 15-minute program in front of the Rizal Monument.
Meanwhile, an effigy called “Buwayang Dalawahan – The Marcos–Duterte Bureaucrat-Capitalist Monster” was seen at Liwasang Bonifacio before it was brought to Roxas Boulevard for the march toward Mendiola. The effigy will be burned at Mendiola, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) said.
Liwasang Bonifacio is one of the freedom parks in the country, where the public can exercise their freedom of assembly and free speech.
Since November 30 is Bonifacio Day, wreaths were laid at the monument of hero Andres Bonifacio at Liwasang Bonifacio.
The wreaths were sent by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Manila local government unit, and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. —KG, GMA Integrated News
