PCSO recognized as top GOCC for 2024 with 100.63% rating
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) was adjudged as the top-performing government owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) for 2024, receiving a rating of 100.63% in the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) Awards.
At the awards ceremony held in Parañaque City on Monday, the PCSO was recognized for its exemplary performance, besting other GOCCs.
The Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) placed second with a score of 100.16%, while the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) placed third at 99.92%.
Other GOCCs that received awards were: Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), Landbank of the Philippines (Landbank), Landbank Countryside Development Foundation, Inc. (LCDFI), Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System-Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO), National Tobacco Administration (NTA), and the Social Security System (SSS).
In a statement, the PCSO said its 2024 score “reflected its strong performance across all major indicators set by the GCG in terms of social impact, sustained and increased revenues, collection efficiency, budget utilization, customer satisfaction, improved process efficiency, ISO certification, human resource development, advancement in technology, among others.”
It added that it earned an additional full point for full compliance with Republic Act 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women through its Gender and Development (GAD) programs.
The extra point earned for the PCSO’s broader commitment to gender-responsive governance explained its over 100% mark in its final rating.
The 2024 award was received by PCSO Chairman Felix Reyes, PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles, and members of the PCSO board of directors.
The GCG also recognized Robles as one of the three Leadership Award Finalists for 2024.
“There is no greater motivation a government agency can have than putting its heart and soul into charity and public service. But this recognition inspires us more to work even harder and uphold a culture of excellence in serving the people,” Robles said.
In 2021, the PCSO began with a rating of 56.3%. In 2022, its rating jumped to 92.03% in 2022. That year, the PCSO was awarded the Most Improved GOCC.
In 2023, the PCSO was likewise honored as one of the Top 10 GOCCs after it achieved a 98.01% score.
Earlier, the PCSO bagged the 2024 Gender and Development Award given by the Philippine Women’s Commission (PCW). It was also recognized as first runner-up in the Freedom of Information (FOI) Champion Awards under the GOCC category. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
