Comelec: Over 700K registered to vote for 2026 BSKE

More than 700,000 applicants registered to vote for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE), nearly half of the target 1.4 million new voters of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Based on Comelec data, a total of 768, 263 individuals registered to vote for the 2026 BSKE as of November 30, 2025. Of the number, a total of 600,275 were regular voters and 167,988 were for Sangguniang Kabataan.

"Magandang senyales 'yun na bago dumating ang May 18 sa susunod na taon, 'yung ating estimate ng mga 2 million [registrants], palagay natin mukhang mar-reach natin," poll chief George Erwin Garcia told reporters.

New SK voters totalled at 164,233, according to the Comelec data. A total of 845 transferred to other cities or municipalities while 224 transferred within the same cities or municipalities.

For regular applicants, or those 18 years old and above, new applicants were at 211,197. A total of 31, 375, meanwhile, applied for reactivation.

The Comelec resumed the nationwide voter registration for the 2026 BSKE on October 20, 2025. It will run until May 18, 2026.

Exempted in the voter registration period, however, are areas in the Bangsamoro in light of the suspension of the first-ever parliamentary polls.

Applicants may register from Monday to Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at any satellite registration sites or at their respective Comelec office, according to the poll body. The voter registration period will likewise be opened to all types of applications including:

  • transfer of records
  • new registration
  • change of name and status
  • correction of entries
  • reactivation of registration records
  • inclusion of registration records,
  • and reinstating of name in the list of voters

The Comelec earlier said it is targeting to register 1.4 million new voters for the 2026 BSKE during the months-long nationwide registration.
