Sandro Marcos appears in ICI probe, requests for executive session

House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander "Sandro" Marcos, son of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Thursday faced the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) which is conducting a hearing on alleged anomalous flood management projects.

Marcos faced reporters before entering the ICI office in Taguig and said that he came "voluntarily" and that he was not invited by the body.

"I came here on a voluntary basis so I can help with the ICI in the investigation. I was not served a subpoena. I am not subject to any investigation," said Marcos.

"I'm willing to give and tell the ICI anything that I might know that may further the investigation," he added.

The presidential son then asked the ICI for an executive session, which was granted.

Previously, Marcos said that he is "willing to appear before the Commission at any time."

"I welcome the opportunity to shed light on any matter that may assist your review," said Marcos in a letter sent to the ICI last week.

"I stand ready to cooperate, answer questions, and provide any clarification needed to move this investigation forward," he added.

Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co has accused Sandro and his father of supposedly ordering insertions in the national budget.

Congressman Marcos disputed Co’s allegations, branding these as part of a destabilization attempt.

"Anyone can sit in front of a camera from abroad and spew lies," Marcos said.  —VAL, GMA Integrated News
