Ombudsman to probe ex-DOJ Usec Cadiz's alleged flood control links

Ombudsman to probe ex-DOJ Usec Cadiz's alleged flood control links

The office of Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla will probe former Justice undersecretary Jojo Cadiz over alleged links to the flood control mess, Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano said Friday.

“Definitely. That is something that the Ombudsman has to look into,” Clavano said.

Prior to Cadiz quitting DOJ early Friday morning, former House appropriations panel chairperson and Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co alleged that the Justice official secured kickbacks for President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

Co also said it was Leyte Rep. and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez who ordered him to give the supposed kickbacks to Cadiz.

“Given all the allegations, however, not yet sworn into, but there are other reports as well of his involvement. And so definitely there will be a fact-finding body that will be dedicated to that,” Clavano said.

“We will have to sift through the evidence. Wherever the evidence takes us, that's where we will go,” he added.

Ombudsman Remulla previously served as Justice secretary prior to his appointment as Ombudsman.

Clavano, on the other hand, served as DOJ Assistant Secretary during Remulla’s term as Justice chief. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
