Who is former DOJ Undersecretary Jojo Cadiz?

Justice Undersecretary Jose “Jojo” Cadiz Jr. resigned from his post after being linked to anomalous flood control projects.

According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Cadiz served as undersecretary for Immigration and the Special Concerns Cluster, which includes the Bureau of Immigration and the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel.

Justice Acting Secretary Fredderick Vida previously said that Cadiz plays no role in the department’s investigation into anomalous flood control projects.

Cadiz was also among the officials whose names cropped up in social media discussions on who may become the next Secretary of Justice after Jesus Crispin Remulla was appointed Ombudsman.

Former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co implicated Cadiz as having allegedly received cash kickbacks purportedly on behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Co alleged that he received orders from former Speaker Martin Romualdez to give the money to Cadiz, who had access to the drop-off point near the President's residence.

When asked if the Malacañang could confirm if Cadiz was an associate or an aide of the President at some point, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said she could not.

The Office of the Ombudsman has said that it would investigate Cadiz's alleged links to the flood control controversy. –NB, GMA Integrated News
