Meghan Markle's dad, Thomas, gets life-saving amputation in Cebu
Thomas Markle, the father of US-born member of the British royal family Meghan Markle, underwent surgery to amputate his leg below the knee at a hospital in Cebu, his son Thomas Jr. said.
A report by Daily Mail said Thomas, 81, had a three-hour surgery to remove his left foot and lower leg after a blood clot cut off circulation and the limb turned black.
"My dad is being very brave. His foot turned blue and then black. It happened very quickly. I took him to a local hospital, and they did some scans and an ultrasound and said the leg had to be amputated," Thomas Jr. said in the report.
"There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed and it was a case of life or death," he added.
The retired Hollywood lighting director moved to Cebu early this year to create a "new life" away from what he called the 'constant pain' of his estrangement from Meghan, the report said. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
