Alice Guo to undergo 60-day orientation, assessment in women’s correctional —BuCor
Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and two others will undergo a 60-day orientation and assessment at the Reception and Diagnostic Center of the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) before being joined with other persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said Saturday.
According to a report by Christian Maño of Super Radyo dzBB, BuCor said Guo and her two other co-accused will still go through a five-day quarantine and medical examination and 55-day mandatory orientation, diagnostics and qualification, before being transferred to the regular dormitory inside the maximum security camp with the other PDLs.
BuCor said all PDLs undergo a 60-day evaluation at the Reception and Diagnostics Center for orientation, assessment of their psychological and physical needs, and being informed of their rights.
Guo was transferred from the Pasig City Jail to the CIW in Mandaluyong City on Friday night, according to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
In a statement, the BJMP said Guo, Rachelle Joan Carreon, and Jaimielyn Cruz were officially received by the CIW at 10:48 p.m.
Guo, Carreon, and Cruz were found guilty of qualified human trafficking by a Pasig City court, which also ordered their detention at the Mandaluyong facility.
The three were sentenced to life imprisonment.
The case was in connection with the raid on a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban in June 2024, where over 800 Filipinos and foreigners were rescued.
The dismissed mayor's camp had earlier asked to remain at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory instead of being transferred to the CIW. —Jamil Santos/KG, GMA Integrated News
