LTFRB issues 1,500 special bus permits ahead of Christmas rush

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued around 1,500 special permits to meet the demand for buses during the holiday rush this Christmas season, Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said Sunday.

“Ang LTFRB, naglabas na ng special permits na nasa 1,500 from December 15 hanggang January 16 para siguruhin na may sapat na buses,” Lopez told Super Radyo dzBB.

(The LTFRB has already issued around 1,500 special permits from December 15 to January 16 to ensure that there are enough buses.)

“Nagdagdagdag kami ng TNVS sa mga paliparan para 'yung mga darating na pasahero, 'yung mga aalis, may masasakyan sila,” he added.

(We also added Transportation Network Vehicle Service in airports so that arriving and departing passengers have a ride they could book.)

More than three million passengers are expected to pass through the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) during the Christmas travel rush this year, according to the terminal’s management.

DOTr earlier ordered the LTRFB to penalize taxi and TNVS drivers who cancel booked trips of passengers, citing reasons like heavy traffic and long distances. —RF, GMA Integrated News
