Marcos says assets of firms, 2 solons linked to flood control mess now frozen
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced on Tuesday that the Court of Appeals (CA) has issued a freeze order on the bank accounts, properties, and air assets of contractors and two lawmakers linked to anomalous flood control projects.
The freeze order covers the accounts and assets of Silverwolves Construction Corporation and Sky Yard Aviation Corporation.
The CA order also covers personal accounts and assets of individuals under investigation, including Benguet Representative Eric Yap and his brother, ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Edvic Yap.
"Kailangan natin ang mga freeze order na ito para hindi maibenta ang mga ari arian at para maibalik natin sa ating mga kababayan ang bawat pisong pinaghihinalaang ninakaw," Marcos said in a video message.
(We need this freeze order to prevent the sale and disposal of the properties, and to return to our people every peso suspected of being stolen.)
The President said over P16 billion worth of transactions entered the account of Silverwolves from 2022 to 2025, many of which are linked to the flood control projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
He said a total of 280 bank accounts have been frozen, as well as 22 insurance policies. three securities accounts and eight air assets of the firm, including planes and a helicopter linked to Sky Yard Aviation.
"Para sa mga Pilipinong paulit-ulit binabaha, nawawalan ng bahay at kabuhayan, hindi na maaaring nakawin ang pondong para sa inyo at basta na lamang tumakas sa hustisya," Marcos said.
(To the Filipinos repeatedly victimized by flooding, those who have lost their homes and livelihoods, they can no longer steal your money and escape justice.)
In October, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla named Eric Yap as a "person of interest" in connection with fully paid yet unfinished flood control projects in La Union by a firm he previously owned.
Remulla said Edvic and Bulacan Rep. Salvador Pleyto received money through bank transfers from contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya.
Pleyto denied the allegations.
Eric Yap, the House appropriations panel chairperson during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte, also denied having links to the flood control controversy after his name was mentioned during a Senate hearing in September. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
