ICI receives 48 more boxes of reports on flood control projects

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) on Tuesday received 48 boxes of documents on anomalies in flood control projects, including two complaint affidavits on flood control and other public works projects in Surigao del Norte.

In a statement, the ICI said the boxes of documents were turned over by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The submission of documents was part of government agencies’ “collaborative efforts to investigate irregularities in flood control projects,” the ICI said.

“The ICI will thoroughly examine all submitted materials and pursue the necessary actions to hold accountable those responsible for anomalous flood control projects,” it added.

According to a report by GMA Integrated News’ Joseph Morong, the documents came from the PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and is the third batch of documents submitted by the CIDG.

The boxes of documents also contained 11 reports on flood control projects in Masinloc, Zambales; San Agustin, Romblon; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Noveleta, Cavite, and Rodriguez, Rizal.

There were three project reports each for the cities of Imus and General Trias in Cavite.

The ICI also received two complaint affidavits from private citizens on the condition of flood control and other public works projects in Surigao del Norte’s 2nd District.

Meanwhile, the ICI’s Technical Working Group (TWG) scheduled virtual meeting was postponed due to a lack of quorum as only seven out of 23 member-agencies were available. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
