CA panel OKs ex-SC justice's appointment to JBC
A panel of the Committee on Appointments (CA) has recommended the confirmation of the ad interim appointment of former Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Jose Mendoza as a member of the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC).
If confirmed, Mendoza will represent retired justices of the High Court in the JBC and will serve until July 9, 2029.
Senator Imee Marcos endorsed his appointment to the plenary, while Senator Joel Villanueva expressed full support.
“Having considered the ample answers of the justice and his exemplary record in the judiciary, I herewith endorse to the plenary the confirmation of Justice Jose C. Mendoza as member of the JBC,” Marcos said.
Meanwhile, the House contingent, led by Majority Floor Leader Rep. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo and Minority Floor Leader Antonio "Tonypet" Albano II, also recommended the confirmation of Mendoza’s appointment.
