DOT, GCash eyeing partnership for easier transactions for tourists

The Department of Tourism (DOT) and e-wallet service GCash are exploring possible collaborations to make travel-related transactions easier and convenient for local and foreign tourists.

In a statement, the DOT said Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco met with GCash executives on Tuesday to discuss digitization efforts for tourism-related services.

They also tackled the limited payment options currently available for foreign visitors.

Among the proposals discussed were the integration of in-app bookings for travel essentials, temporary GCash access for foreign visitors, and in-app promotion for the Love The Philippines campaign.

Earlier, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) said they partnered with GCash to ease refund processes for travel tax payments for exempted individuals.

The partnership ensured a smoother process with no convenience fees. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
