Marcos swears in Barcena as new NPC commissioner

Lawyer Johann Carlos Barcena formally took his oath on Thursday as the new commissioner and chairperson of the National Privacy Commission (NPC). 

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. administered Barcena’s oath taking in Malacañang. 

Barcena previously served as executive director of the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG). 

According to Republic Act 10173 or the Data Privacy Act, the privacy commissioner shall serve for a three-year term and shall also act as chair of the NPC. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
