No tsunami threat to PH after magnitude 6.7 earthquake in Japan —PHIVOLCS

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) advised that there is no tsunami threat to the country from the magnitude 6.7 earthquake in Japan Friday morning.
“No destructive tsunami threat exists based on available data. This is for information purposes only and there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake,” PHIVOLCS said in a tsunami information.
“No action required,” the agency added.
According to the PHIVOLCS, the earthquake off the east coast of Honshu island was recorded around 10:44 a.m.
The depth of the earthquake was 16 kilometers, according to the PHIVOLCS.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
