Over 1K inmates released from November to December 2025 — BuCor
A total of 1,009 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released from November to December, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said Friday.
In a statement, BuCor said this brings the total number of released PDLs to 28,616 from June 2022 to December 12.
“We are reminded that the true measure of justice is not only in accountability but also in the opportunity to rebuild, to be restored, and to return to society,” Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. said during the culminating activity.
According to BuCor, 555 were released due to expired maximum sentence, 240 due to parole, 147 were acquitted, 38 due to the grant of habeas corpus, 28 were granted probation, while one was transferred to another custody.
Meanwhile, 360 were from the New Bilibid Prison, 56 from the Correctional Institution for Women, 98 from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, 89 from the Leyte Regional Prison, 153 from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm, and 145 from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm.
