Alcantara expected to return another P200M to gov’t
Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan District Engineer Henry Alcantara is expected to return P200 million more to the government as restitution, according to Sandra Aguinaldo’s report on "24 Oras."
According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Alcantara may turn over the money next week amid his application to the Witness Protection Program (WPP).
Alcantara previously returned P110 million to the government in November.
Earlier in the day, Alcantara paid another visit to the Justice Department as he continues to cooperate in its investigation into anomalous flood control projects.
He, along with former DPWH officials Roberto Bernardo, Brice Hernandez, and Jaypee Mendoza, is considered a “protected witness.”
They are under “provisional acceptance” to the WPP.
Meanwhile, Justice spokesperson Polo Martinez said that a complaint involving former Ako Bicol Party-List Representative Zaldy Co is now submitted for resolution.
Co was previously added as an additional respondent in a complaint over a ghost flood control project of SYMS Construction in Bulacan.
Martinez said Co did not submit his counter affidavit.
“Zaldy Co had until December 5 to file his counter affidavit in one of the 5 cases involving SYMS Construction,” Martinez told GMA News Online.
“Zaldy never appeared. Neither was he represented by counsel. As to him, the case is now submitted for resolution notwithstanding the absence of a counter affidavit,” he added. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
