PNP promotes over 10,300 personnel nationwide

A total of 10,379 police officers nationwide were promoted in simultaneous oath-taking and donning of ranks ceremonies on Monday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

Of the total number of promotions, 556 were police commissioned officers and 9,823 were police non-commissioned officers, according to the PNP.

Among the commissioned officers, the promotions were as follows:

  • 82 police majors to police lieutenant colonel
  • 131 police captains to police major
  • 199 police lieutenants to police captain
  • 144 police executive master sergeants to police lieutenant

For the non-commissioned officers, the promotions included the following:

  • 166 police chief master sergeants to police executive master sergeant
  • 739 police senior master sergeants to police chief master sergeant
  • 353 police master sergeants to police senior master sergeant
  • 1,591 police staff sergeants to police master sergeant
  • 2,023 police corporals to police staff sergeant
  • 4,951 patrolmen and patrolwomen to police corporal

The PNP said the promotions were based on merit, performance, and length of service.

During the ceremony at Camp Crame in Quezon City, PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. administered the oath to 712 personnel.

“Ang mas mataas na ranggo ay mas mataas na pananagutan. Hindi ito lisensya para mag-utos; ito ay obligasyon para manguna (Higher rank means higher responsibility. It is not a license to command; it is an obligation to lead)," he said.

"Accountability comes before authority. Responsibility comes before privilege,” Nartatez added

The acting PNP chief expressed his appreciation to the promotion boards nationwide for their "diligent efforts in ensuring a fair and transparent selection process."

"Your dedication to upholding the highest standards of excellence has ensured that only the most deserving individuals are promoted,” he said.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
