FLOOD CONTROL MESS

Brice Hernandez, Jaypee Mendoza attend DOJ probe

Former Bulacan 1st District assistant engineers Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza on Monday personally attended the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) preliminary investigation into alleged anomalous flood control projects.

Justice spokesperson Polo Martinez said the probe involves two complaints related to Wawao Builders and Topnotch Catalyst Builders.

He added that these two cases are part of six complaints that the Office of the Ombudsman returned to the DOJ, which it had earlier deputized to handle the charges.

“The setting today was only for the reception of the complaint affidavit by the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) and the attached documents,” Martinez told reporters.

According to Martinez, the charges include direct bribery, corruption of public officials, malversation through falsification, and violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and Republic Act 9184, among others.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
