FLOOD CONTROL MESS

Sarah, Curlee Discaya brought to DOJ for tax evasion preliminary probe

Sarah, Curlee Discaya brought to DOJ

Embattled contractors Sarah and Curlee Discaya were separately brought to the Department of Justice Friday morning.

The Discayas will undergo preliminary investigation on the P7.1 billion tax evasion complaint filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

Sarah was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation Thursday evening after a court issued a warrant against her for corruption and malversation of funds charges in connection with the P96.5-million ghost flood control project in Davao Occidental.

Curlee, on the other hand, was brought by the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms. He is detained at the Senate after he was cited in contempt by the Blue Ribbon Committee for lying about the absence of his wife, Sarah, during a hearing on anomalous flood control projects on September 18.

Sarah and Curlee left the DOJ compound before 10 a.m.

Curlee was escorted back to the Senate while Sarah was brought to the NBI headquarters where she will stay before authorities present her to the court that issued the arrest warrant.

The Discayas are under probe after their construction firms were tagged in the anomalies in the country’s flood control projects.

They own the Alpha and Omega General Contractor & Development Corporation, one of the 15 companies named by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that secured 20% of the flood control projects in the country. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
