More airport passengers recorded during holidays in 2025 vs. 2024 – MIAA

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) shared that more passengers have been recorded at Philippine airports for the holiday season in 2025 compard to the same period in 2024.

According to a "24 Oras" report by JP Soriano on Friday, the heavy flow of airport traffic began in the first week of December.

On December 18, more than 168,000 passengers have departed through Ninoy Aquino International Airport(NAIA) terminals 1 to 3.

“Kung titignan mo yung domestic departure, so from Manila to the provinces halos pantay sila ng arrival ng international… (If you look at the domestic departure from Manila to provinces, the arrivals compared to the international was almost the same.) It could mean that the arrivals coming home are mga balikbayans going to the provinces,” said MIAA General Manager Eric Ines.

Heavy traffic is to be expected along major roads around the vicinity of NAIA terminals during the rush, which was why airlines and airport authorities reminded the public to arrive for their flights earlier and to ensure that they had the appropriate allowable baggage to avoid further delays to their trips.

MIAA also shared that passengers may expect more self check-in counters to be added for convenience around the first few months of 2026. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/BAP, GMA Integrated News
