NAPOLCOM resolves pending cases vs cops, 25-year backlog
The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has successfully resolved its pending cases against erring police officers as well as a backlog spanning more than 25 years.
In a statement over the weekend, NAPOLCOM vice chairperson and executive officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan called it an “institutional milestone” in the agency’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and justice.
“This was my first marching order, and today we can confidently say, we delivered. We are on track for zero backlog by Tuesday (December 23), where our formal announcement will be made,” said the NAPOLCOM commissioner.
Upon assuming office in April, Calinisan ordered the resolution of all pending cases before the end of 2025.
In his statement, Calinisan said the completion of the 25-year case backlog was made possible through the NAPOLCOM’s collective effort and resolve to institute reforms and responsive public service.
“We finished a 25-year case backlog, something many thought was impossible. But with service, integrity, and teamwork, we proved that genuine reform can happen,” he said. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
