14k civilians pass PNP entrance exams, 2.9k cops qualify for promotion
Over 14,000 civilian examinees passed the Philippine National Police (PNP) Entrance Examinations while almost 3,000 police officers hurdled the PNP Promotional Examinations, the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) said.
In a statement over the weekend, the NAPOLCOM announced the official results of the PNP Entrance and Promotional Examinations held on October 19 in 38 examination centers nationwide.
Out of 44,309 examinees, 17,403 passed the examinations, posting an overall passing rate of 39.28 percent.
Of this total, 14,438 civilian examinees passed the PNP Entrance Examination. They are now eligible to apply for appointment as patrolman or patrolwoman as long as they meet the prescribed requirements for appointment in the PNP under Republic Act 8551 or the 1998 PNP Reform and Reorganization Act.
On the other hand, 2,965 in-service police officers passed the Promotional Examinations and are now qualified for promotion to higher ranks within the PNP.
NAPOLCOM vice chairperson and executive officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan said the examinations are a critical safeguard of integrity and professionalism in the police service.
“Ang tungkulin ng NAPOLCOM ay tiyaking ang bawat pumapasok at umaangat sa hanay ng kapulisan ay dumaan sa patas, tapat, at makatarungang proseso,” the NAPOLCOM commissioner said.
(The NAPOLCOM’s duty is to ensure that everyone who enters and rises through the ranks of our policemen underwent a fair, honest, and just process.)
“Sa ganitong paraan natin naitataguyod ang isang pulisyang propesyonal, tapat sa bayan, at matatag sa integridad,” Calinisan added.
(This way, we can ensure a police force that is professional, faithful to the nation, and has unwavering integrity.)
The NAPOLCOM chief added that Filipinos’ trust also depend on the quality of policemen selected through entry and promotion screening.
The complete list of successful examinees may be viewed on the NAPOLCOM website.
The agency added that certificates of eligibility for passers and reports of rating for non-passers will be sent by mail. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
