Walang Gutom Kitchen open for remaining days of Dec. 2025 – DSWD
The Walang Gutom Kitchen (WGK) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will remain open for the remaining days of December to accept walk-in families and individuals experiencing involuntary hunger.
In a statement over the weekend, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said the WGK at the Nasdake Building in Pasay City will only be closed on December 25 and January 1, 2026.
“Open kami all the way to December 24 and then magbubukas kami ulit sa 26 all the way to the 31st,” Gatchalian said.
(We are open all the way to December 24 and then we will reopen on 26 all the way to the 31st.)
He also urged Filipinos who wish to do something meaningful during the holidays to volunteer at the kitchen.
“Kung naghahanap kayo ng makabuluhang pagtulong ngayong Pasko, welcome kayo dito sa kitchen para mag-service. Hindi kailangan magdala ng pagkain. Magdadala kayo, tatanggapin namin. Pero pag oras lang ang kaya nyo, the best gift this Christmas is the gift of time. Mag-volunteer kayo dito sa Walang Gutom Kitchen,” Gatchalian said.
(If you are looking for meaningful volunteer work this Christmas, you are welcome here at the kitchen to serve. You don’t have to bring food. But if you do, we will welcome it. If you can only afford to give your time, the best gift this Christmas is the gift of time. Volunteer with us at the Walang Gutom Kitchen.)
To volunteer as food and water servers, registration personnel, and crowd control personnel, one may register at https://forms.gle/dVnewCCWbPyTbud16 or visit the WGK at the Nasdake Building, FB Harrison, Pasay City.
“Nawa ay sa darating na ka-Paskuhan, tuloy-tuloy na tumayong simbolo itong Walang Gutom Kitchen ng pag-asa – pag-asa na kaya natin wakasan ang kagutuman once and for all,” Gachalian said.
(Hopefully this coming Christmas, the Walang Gutom Kitchen will continue to be a symbol of hope – hope that we can end hunger once and for all.)
Last week, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited the WGK to bring Christmas cheer to street dwellers and those experiencing involuntary hunger.
Malacañang said Marcos wants to strengthen the Pag-Abot Program, an initiative that offers support, interventions, and social welfare protection to street dwellers, as well as the WGK, which is one of its components. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
