Over 1M registered to vote for 2026 BSKE — Comelec
More than 1 million applicants registered to vote for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE), according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Based on the Comelec data shared to reporters, a total of 1,020,694 individuals registered to vote for the 2026 BSKE as of December 21, 2025, near the poll body's target of 1.4 million new voters.
Of the figures,225,174 were Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) or those 15 years old to 17 years old and 795,520 were regular voters or aged 18 years old and above.
For SK voters, new registrants stood at 230,666. Meanwhile, 963 applied to be transferred from another city or municipality and 318 asked to be transferred within the same city or municipality.
Applications for new regular voters stood at 278, 388 while those who applied for reactivation totaled at 41,140.
The nationwide voter registration for the 2026 BSKE was resumed on October 20, 2025. It will run until May 18, 2026.
Exempted in the voter registration period, however, are areas in the Bangsamoro in light of the suspension of the first-ever parliamentary polls.
Applicants may register from Monday to Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at any satellite registration sites or at their respective Comelec office of the election officer (OEO), according to the poll body. The voter registration period will likewise be opened in all types of applications including:
- transfer of records
- new registration
- change of name and status
- correction of entries
- reactivation of registration records
- inclusion of registration records,
- and reinstating of name in the list of voters
The Comelec earlier said it is targeting to register 1.4 million new voters for the 2026 BSKE during the months-long nationwide registration.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in August signed into law the proposed measure seeking to postpone the BSKE from December 1, 2025 to the first Monday of November 2026, and every four years thereafter. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
