Firecracker-related injuries currently at 7 — DOH
The Department of Health (DOH) has logged 7 firecracker-related injuries so far for the 2025 holiday season.
According to the DOH’s recent tally on Tuesday, three new cases were recorded from December 21, Sunday, until 4 a.m. on December 23, Tuesday, adding to the existing tally of 4.
The DOH noted that the number was 75% lower than the 28 cases logged within the same timeframe in 2024.
Despite this, they noted that 4 out of the 7 victims were aged 19 years old and below.
Most of the victims were also injured due to the explosives Boga and 5-Star.
“Agad na dalhin sa ospital kung may aksidente dulot sa paputok… Tumawag agad sa National Emergency Hotline 911 para sa emergency medical hotline assistance,” the DOH said in their advisory.
(Immediately take the victims to the hospital ... call up National Emergency Hotline 911 for emergency hotline assistance.)
Data released by the DOH was gathered from 62 sentinel hospitals that are being monitored for firecracker-related injuries.
The DOH is set to observe the number of firecracker-related incidents until January 5, 2026 as part of their holiday monitoring efforts.
