Tips on how to avoid food spoilage this Christmas 2025
As the holidays approach, how can you make sure that your food and left-overs don’t spoil too easily?
Here are some tips from the Department of Health (DOH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to avoid spoilage:
- Make sure your hands and equipment are clean when you cook
- Use clean water and fresh ingredients
- Separate cooked food and raw ingredients
- Cook food thoroughly
- Make sure your food is stored at the safe and/or appropriate temperatures
Meanwhile, DOH also advised the public, especially the youth, to curb “bad habits” during the holiday season.
These include binge drinking and unhealthy food consumption. The public is reminded to consume food at appropriate times even in the course of gatherings.
DOH said that they will begin monitoring “holiday health concerns” starting Tuesday, as they anticipate the surge of heart, stroke, or asthma attacks, road-crash victims, and firecracker-related injuries until January 5, 2026. —Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/AOL, GMA Integrated News
