NAPOLCOM declares zero case backlog
The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) officially declared Tuesday that it has cleared all the backlog cases that accumulated for more than 25 years.
During a summary dismissal and en banc session, the NAPOLCOM settled the final six pending cases.
“This is a historic day for the National Police Commission. Today, we did not just closed six cases, we closed a chapter that spanned a quarter of a century,” NAPOLCOM chief Atty. Ralph Calinisan said in a statement.
“Zero backlog is no longer a target; it is now a fact. This is proof that decisive leadership, integrity, and hard work can dismantle even the most entrenched institutioal problems,” he added.
As he assumed the position in April, Calinisan set as priority the zero backlog initiative.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, who serves as NAPOLCOM’s ex-officio chairperson, congratulated the commission for the achievement.
“Closing a backlog that spanned more than twenty-five years is no small feat,” Remulla said. “This accomplishment reflects strong leadership and a clear commitment to justice and accountability,” Remulla said.
Also present during the session were Philippine National Police (PNP) acting chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., as well as commissioners Beatrice Aurora Vega-Cancio and Josephus Angan.
“Zero backlog is our baseline moving forward. NAPOLCOM will never again allow justice to wait for decades. We owe that to our police officers, to the Filipino people, and to the generations who expect institutions that work,” Calinisan said.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
