68% of Filipinos expect a happy Christmas — SWS

Majority of adult Filipinos are expecting a happy Christmas celebration, results of a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed Wednesday.

According to the SWS survey, 68% of adult Filipinos are expecting a happy Christmas.

This is 3 points higher than the 65% recorded in 2024, but five points lower than the 73% recorded in 2023 and 2022.

The SWS said those expecting a happy Christmas were highest in Mindanao at 76%, followed by the Visayas at 73%, Balance Luzon at 64%, and Metro Manila at 64%.

Meanwhile, 7% are expecting a sad Christmas, lower than 10% from last year, while 25% are neutral on the matter.

Results also showed that 45% of the respondents were most thankful for good health, 29% for family, and 28% for being alive. They were asked what one or two things they are most thankful for in their life, and were allowed to give up to two answers.

According to the survey, 13% of the respondents are from Metro Manila, 45% from Balance Luzon (or Luzon outside Metro Manila), 19% from the Visayas, and 23% from Mindanao. 

Meanwhile, 11% are aged from 18 years old to 24 years old, 20% are aged from 25 to 35, 20% are aged from 35 to 44, 16% are aged from 45 to 54, and 33% are aged 55 years old and above.

The survey was conducted from November 24 to 30 with face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adult Filipinos nationwide.

The  sampling error margins are ±3% for national percentages and ±6% each for Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
