PCG logs over 61,000 seaport passengers on Christmas morning

More than 61,000 sea travelers were recorded at seaports nationwide in the morning of Christmas Day, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Thursday.

Based on the PCG’s monitoring from 6 a.m. to noon, a total of 35,533 outbound passengers and 26,130 inbound passengers passed through ports across the country.

PCG personnel from 16 PCG districts inspected 297 vessels and 621 motorbancas to check compliance with safety and security protocols and to ensure safe and orderly maritime travel.

Earlier, the PCG placed all its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert from Dec. 20, 2025 to Jan. 4, 2026, in anticipation of the surge in passenger volume during the holidays.

On Christmas Eve, the PCG logged 194,842 outbound passengers and 194,456 inbound passengers in ports all over the country.

The PCG also advised the public to strictly follow maritime safety regulations. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
