Palace: Fajardo's role at ICI 'always meant to be temporary'

Rossana Fajardo's role as a commissioner of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) was "always meant to be temporary", Malacanang said Friday.

Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez made the remarks as Fajardo tendered her resignation as ICI commissioner effective December 31, 2025.

"Ms. Fajardo was brought in for a clear financial forensic purpose- to closely review the money linked to the projects under investigation and help trace where public funds went. That work is now finished," said Gomez.

Gomez said Fajardo's findings will form part of the ICI recommendations to the Ombudsman and will be turned over to appropriate government offices.

"As the Commission continues its work in the coming months, the focus is now on final reports and the proper handover of documents to offices like the Office of the Ombudsman for the next steps," he added.

Earlier, the ICI said it would now focus on finalizing referrals to be forwarded to the Office of the Ombudsman as it announced Fajardo's exit from the commission. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
