DOLE: 33k establishments checked for labor compliance in 2025

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Monday said it significantly ramped up its labor inspection efforts in 2025, leading to improved compliance with labor laws and the award of over P2.45 billion to 835,886 workers nationwide.

In a statement, the DOLE said 33,007 establishments covering 3.7 million workers were inspected under its Labor Inspection Program (LIP) as of November.

These inspections were complemented by 168,100 Technical and Advisory Visits (TAVs), which reached 315,560 workers in micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The award of P2.45 billion to more than 835,000 workers underscored the program’s “tangible impact in ensuring workers receive what is rightfully due to them,” the DOLE said.

It added that its proactive approach in labor inspections led to marked improvements in compliance, with General Labor Standards (GLS) compliance going up from 79.87% to 94.53% after corrective measures.

In addition, Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) compliance rose from 63.42% to 90.06% following interventions.

“These results reflect the growing commitment of establishments to uphold lawful and safe working conditions,” the DOLE said, adding that as of November 2025, there is a 100% enforcement of labor standards cases, with 88% of issued compliance orders already satisfied.

The agency also cited its issuance of Labor Advisory No. 15 in 2025 to promote labor-management preparedness and affirm employers’ obligations during emergencies and disruptive events.

The DOLE said it will continue to build the capacity of labor inspectors and support establishments through regular training, skills upgrading, and complementary webinars on labor standards and workplace safety.

“DOLE assures the public that labor inspections will continue nationwide, with priority given to high-risk industries, as part of the government’s enduring commitment to protect Filipino workers and promote decent work,” it added. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
