DOTr: 3 more EDSA Busway stations in 2026

The Department of Transportation is set to construct and complete three additional stations that will cater to commuters using the EDSA Busway.

In a news release on Tuesday, the DOTr said the construction of new EDSA Busway stations located in Cubao, Magallanes, and Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) will begin in the first quarter of 2026.

The construction of the three additional stations is targeted to be finished by the fourth quarter of 2026.

The DOTr said the project was aimed at improving the bus system’s efficiency and accessibility to commuters.

Citing DOTr Undersecretary for Road Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor’s radio interview, the Transportation Department said the contract for the project had been awarded in December.

The agency said the initiative was in line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to further improve the busway’s time and motion and encourage the use of public transport.

Moreover, the DOTr said the new EDSA Busway Kamuning Station will be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2026 as part of the EDSA Busway’s modernization.

The Kamuning Station would be equipped with elevators and escalators to improve accessibility for commuters especially for persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens and pregnant women. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
