Marcos won't travel for New Year 2026, Palace says
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will not travel to celebrate the New Year, Malacañang said Wednesday.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro told reporters that the President would welcome 2026 with his family and loved ones.
Castro said Marcos would just be "here" for the New Year.
"Ang Pangulo ay narito lamang at walang pagbibiyahe na magaganap. Kasama niyang sasalubungin ang Bagong Taon ang kanyang pamilya at mga mahal sa buhay," Castro said.
(The President is just here and not travel will be made. He will be with his family and loved ones in welcoming the New Year.)
Last week, Malacañang had said the President would spend the Christmas holidays working, mainly reviewing the P6.7-trillion budget proposal for 2026 approved by the Bicameral Conference Committee.
On Tuesday, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said the President and his team were scrutinizing all allocations and provisions in the ratified 2026 budget to fully account for any changes from the originally submitted National Expenditure Program (NEP).
Recto said the Executive Branch would "ensure that the 2026 GAA will satisfy not only the legal and technical requirements but, more importantly, the needs of the Filipino people." — VDV, GMA Integrated News
