LTFRB eyes full digital shift in 2026

LTFRB eyes full digital shift in 2026

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is embarking on a full digital shift of its processes and transactions in 2026 in a bid to modernize the public land transportation system in the country.

In a statement, LTFRB chairman Vigor Mendoza II said the agency is currently finalizing all the processes in the major digital shift to improve the services of the agency.

“Our goal is to fully implement the online application and verification of all applications, petitions, motions and other transactions... In doing this, we are preparing the LTFRB for the future generations of digitally adept Filipinos. In the fast-changing digital environment, the LTFRB must keep up to meet the high demands and expectations of the Filipino people,” said Mendoza.

Mendoza said the move is also in compliance with the instruction of the President to fully comply with the provisions of the existing law on Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service in the country.

“Once we complete this transformation, we will also be able to address the perennial problem of fixers because online transactions will be direct, fast, comfortable and with less human intervention,” he said.

The LTFRB chief said that the digital transformation of the agency is also “symbolic,” as the country is currently pursuing converting the Philippine transportation into a modern and reliable system.

LTFRB is among the key players in the Public Transportation Modernization Program (PTMP) which is currently at route rationalization and fleet modernization stages.

“So while we are working on PTMP, we will do this along with the full digital transformation of the LTFRB. And we hope to fully implement it this year,” he added.

The LTFRB also said that it is currently working on further improving the agency’s online platform to make it more user-friendly.

The agency, moreover, is embarking on online verification of Certificate of Public Convenience and Provisional Authority in order to cut short the entire process of applying, approving and release of authority to operate for public utility vehicles (PUVs). —VAL, GMA Integrated News
