Nearly 5.9-M seaport passengers logged amid Yuletide season — PCG
Nearly 5.9 million seaport passengers nationwide were recorded amid the recent holiday season, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
“As we speak, halos 5.9 million na ‘yun na-monitor natin. Kahapon lang ay halos 445,000 both inbound and outbound passengers ang na-monitor ng PCG nationwide ‘yan,” PCG spokesperson Captain Noemie Guirao-Cayabyab told Super Radyo dzBB.
(As we speak, we have monitored almost 5.9 million passengers. Yesterday, the Philippine Coast Guard monitored nearly 445,000 inbound and outbound passengers nationwide.)
She added the Coast Guard is expecting an influx of seaport passengers headed to Metro Manila on Sunday, as classes and government offices resume on Monday.
Meanwhile, almost 800,000 airport passengers were recorded in 44 Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) airports from December 20, 2025 to January 1, 2026.
In a separate dzBB interview, CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio explained that the number of passengers increase about seven to 10% annually.
