DSWD warns vs AI-generated videos promising P3k student aid

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Sunday warned the public against falling for artificial intelligence (AI)-generated videos that falsely promise cash assistance for students for the third quarter of the school year.

In a Facebook post entitled “Iwas-Scam Paalala para sa mga Estudyante at Pamilya,” the DSWD said the video would claim that there is a P3,000 cash assistance for students who would register for the so-called aid.

However, the AI-generated video would redirect the viewer to an affiliate marketing link.

(These can be found on Facebook pages known for spreading enticing but unverified announcements to gain attention, and these are not from the official announcements of the agency.)

The DSWD’s post was accompanied by a screenshot of an AI-generated video which claimed that students from elementary to junior high school can avail of a P3,000 “third grading cash assistance.”

The agency advised the public to scrutinize social media posts that promise financial assistance or cash.

(We should be critical at all times. Check if the content is from credible and official sources.)

(Let us fight wrong information together because fake news is a no-no in the DSWD!)

The DSWD also urged the public to check such claims through its official website and official social media accounts:
